Since my favorite mystery novels are set in real locations, realistically depicted, you'd know I love Ellen Elizabeth Hunter's series set in Wilmington, North Carolina and the surrounding area. John and I had never been there until Ellen's books helped guide us to historic places, wonderful seafood, and more. Oh, yes--terrific stories too, featuring sisters Melanie and Ashley Wilkes and all their friends and loved ones. Ashley is in the historic restoration business, an occupation I love learning about. (Bodies buried in walled-up places?)

One of the best-known mystery writers in the United States today shares information here about both her series..."Death on Demand," featuring lovebirds Annie and Max Darling, and "Henri O," featuring a smart, zippy senior who'll face any danger for a cause. Take your pick. Better yet, take both. More than twenty-five novels to choose from. I recommend every single one!

My husband's favorite mystery writer. His heroine of choice is Judge Deborah Knott. I happen to favor Maron's Sigrid Harald series. Sigrid is cool New York. Deborah is the old...and new...South. Come to think of it, it is pretty hard to pick a favorite. Thank goodness there are many books in both series to choose from.
